Try to KEEP CALM! Keep focused! All you are going to do on your test is virtually identical to what you have been doing with your instructor. The only difference is the person sat next to you. There are NO quotas, no times of the week that are better! Quiet simply, if you drive well, you will pass! When your Driving Examiner comes into the waiting room. they will call your name. You will be given a piece of paper to sign to say that your car is insured for the purposes of the test. Give your examiner the paperwork that you have brought with you and whilst they are looking at that you can sign the declaration.
your examiner will give you back your paperwork. TAKE IT WITH YOU.-You will need it again at the end of the test when you pass!
You will walk out to your car and be asked to identify which car is yours. At this point you will be asked to read a number plate to check that your eyesight is satisfactory. The distance the vehicle will be away from you will be approximately 20.5 metres. Once you have done this you will be asked a couple of questions on SHOW ME-TELL ME. Having done this, you will be asked to get into the car and make yourself comfortable. The examiner will check around the car and then get into the car, much like your instructor would.
You will then be told that you will be driving for approximately 35-40 minutes on roads of different speed limits and that you should follow the road ahead, unless road markings or traffic signs indicate otherwise. You will also be told that you will be doing a couple of manouevers and possibly the emergency stop exercise, but you will be told more about those just before you do them.
Remember, if you did not hear an instruction ask your examiner to repeat it. From thereon in the drive is much like a normal driving lesson. Do not be upset that your examiner does not enter into lengthy conversation with you. The only reason for this is so that you can concentrate fully on your driving.
At the end of the drive, the examiner will ask you to turn off your car engine and relax whilst they complete their report. The examiner will then tell you the result. |
